Introducing the beginning of our next generation LMS
We are pleased to announce the introduction of our next generation LMS which provides new workflows for managing the portal layouts, new menu management system, new request and reservation management, copy global edit and a new barcode scanning facility to provide quick access to make global changes to copies and to re-print labels.
This is just the beginning and over time we will be moving all existing functions from the existing LMS to the next generation. The new LMS is being built using the latest MVC and HTML 5 technology which allows us to provide improvements in navigation, workflows and consistency between functions. We have already started work on the serials & acquisitions workflows and processes which we are hugely excited about – watch this space for further information.
Graham Partridge, Research and Development Director tells us more in this discussion:
New request management
A new and improved user experience for managing requests has been introduced into our next generation Soutron LMS application. It provides streamlined workflows for managing all different request types including our new view request type for archives that allows a user to book a date to come and view something that is reference or hidden away in the archive.
For multi office scenarios, delegating or as we now calling it transferring requests is much simpler. Drag and drop functionality has been introduced to simply change the priority of multiple requests for the same title. We are making further improvements which will be rolled out moving forward.
Menu management module
In our next generation LMS we have implement a brand new menu management process as well as making menus easier to access and use. For the management of the menus drag and drop has again been introduced to more easily change the order and location of menus.
The new menus have been built into the new generation LMS with all menus present in the existing LMS being provided to allow users to seamlessly switch between the two LMS applications.
Other features include
- Loading portal relevant to a user’s office for multi office clients that also have multiple portals
- Allow user on specific offices to by default to search selected offices that they have access to.
As always we will contact you to arrange a time prior to updates being applied.
